#9 The Summer of Music is going strong!

It’s crazy to think we’re already more than halfway through our music summer. We’re so happy to have seen such a great turnout from the community, and to see our lively cultural centre vision become a reality.

We have an incredible duo performing this Saturday 21st of August at 19h.

Bojan Cvetrežnik and Barja Drnovšek are two violinists from the Slovenian band "Terrafolk" (BBC World Music Award) and the international "Symbolic Orchestra".

We just won a prize!

Our project was one of three that received a main prize of 2500 euros last weekend. Five cultural and educational projects were awarded the "Kultur.LEBT.Demokratie" prize by the Saxony Sociocultural Association. They were selected from 60 entries. At the award ceremony in Görlitz on Saturday, Minister of Culture Barbara Klepsch (CDU) said: "This proves the binding power of cultural education on social cohesion and that there are numerous committed people and volunteers in Saxony who take on the constant task of promoting a democratic culture."

"Since July 2020, a group of musicians has taken on the abandoned railway station in the small town of Leisnig in Central Saxony. Thanks to extensive clean-up and renovation work, the dilapidated station building has been transformed into a cultural centrepiece of the town, which aims to connect people and bring them into dialogue with cultural events and open offers. The jury was unanimously convinced that this pioneering commitment is definitely worthy of an award, as it has great charisma in the local community and makes an indispensable and sustainable contribution to the cultural revitalisation of the public space," says the state association.
