Thanks to your donations we can now renovate!
If we were on stage, there would be a euphoric drum roll at this point...we did it!
Thanks to your help, Kulturbahnhof Leisnig e.V. has successfully completed its crowdfunding campaign by raising 56,260 euros. In addition, about 8,000 euros were donated directly to the association's account. The past weeks have been a very exciting time for us and it's a great feeling to know that so many support our project!
We can't wait to open the doors for travellers, guests, artists, and especially for you! It will now take a few weeks until we settle the crowdfunding campaign and send you the donation receipts and thank-you gifts. We intend to do this as soon as possible and will keep you posted.
The roof repair has started.
From the inside, it looked as if the roof boarding was in good condition. But when we removed the old slates, we discovered that the wood unfortunately had to be completely replaced. We have now had this removed as well, so the hall is roofless at the moment and only covered with a sheet of plastic - a strange feeling. Before winter sets in, we have to get the roof in such a condition that the hall stays dry. The rest of the renovation work will continue in spring 2022.
Construction helper days - working together is fun!
The first construction helper days have taken place. We numbered and removed the decorative strips from the roof boarding. We spent hours removing rusty nails from about 100 mouldings and sanded off the old paint. There are still about 300 mouldings waiting for our attention. But wood is a great material: it can make 150-year-old mouldings look like new again. Thanks to everyone who was there - working together is just so much more fun. We are looking forward to many more construction days with you! We have noticed that it is a bit more difficult to coordinate such activities in terms of time, logistics and methods. We will let you know when the time comes again.
Christmas at the Station - 11 & 12 December 2021
For the first time this year, a small Christmas market will be held at the station. In a cosy atmosphere there will be delicious food and mulled wine from various vendors, small stalls with handicrafts and jewellery and a hands-on offer for the children with Hartmut Lehmann's smithy and Klaus Berthold's wood workshop. Of course there will also be music with Christmas carols around the fire with the station band. The fantastic children's theatre Borgolle von Scholle will also be there again, putting on little shows for the whole family throughout the day.
Warm wishes,
The Bahnhof Team
