Music, Arts and Crafts, and delicious Food at our Christmas Market

This time of year is always a wonderful mixture of looking back at everything that has happened and looking forward to everything that is to come in the new year. We would love to take you on this journey with us and are very grateful that you continue to support us in so many ways. The project would not be possible without you!
Here is our short annual report:
ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL - THE STATION GARDEN
Anyone passing by the station last winter was presented with a picture of devastation. The garden had been torn up and there was a huge gaping hole. Where the grass used to grow, there was now only mud. During this time, many people probably doubted our sanity. Questions like: Do you want to build a swimming pool now or even an underground parking garage? Admittedly, it wasn't the best time to start this project, but the large cultural program in the summer meant that there was still a lot to do. We often only have the winter to carry out construction work. Everyone - including us - was relieved when the newly designed station garden opened in time for the flower festival on April 30 - and in all its glory! We think it was worth it.

.. or the more beautiful world that our heart knows is possible!
When you look at world history like this, there are days when you could lose heart and despair. We have often asked ourselves what we can do. And time and again we have come back to the fact that it makes sense, literally and metaphorically, to cultivate our own garden and create a space where good things can flourish. We do this in our own way, with our offer at the station. We are very grateful to see that our events at the station continue to be so well received.
The Kulturbahnhof is becoming a popular event location for renowned artists and newcomers.
Over a total of 17 days, 25 bands from all over the world played for around 9700 visitors. We were able to cover the costs thanks to your donations and loyal sponsors. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts. It's great to see how we can all look after the garden together and provide a home for good things. There were many highlights, but of course the big station orchestra is always a very special experience. This year there were almost 60 people between the ages of 12 and 70 from 17 nations on stage and we were able to experience a magical evening together with the enthusiastic audience. When at one point the whole audience joined the orchestra in singing the chorus to the song "Al Droub Al Safar", which was taught to us by Jafar, a young musician from Iraq, everyone could see the more beautiful world that our hearts know.
THE CONSTRUCTION SITE
This year was the year in which the renovation of the station really got underway. A lot has already happened on the construction site:
- Old floors in the concert hall, signal box and baggage hall were demolished.
- Insulation and underfloor heating have been installed in the concert hall, signal box and baggage hall.
- Heating for the entire first floor is installed.
- The toilets on the first floor have been renovated and new sanitary facilities have been installed.
- All the roofs over the first floor meeting room have been renovated to be energy-efficient.
- Various skylights have been installed in the concert hall, corridor and signal box.
- The façade has been partially renovated and restored to its original design.
- The old doors in the reception hall have been refurbished and some new doors have been installed.
DAVID VS. GOLIATH?
Our goal was actually to complete most of the first construction phase in 2023. But after the initial euphoria of the banks, financing the entire building is proving difficult and protracted. But we still have an idea ...
