#25 Three years of culture, building and participation

The Summer of Music is in full swing

Dear friends of Bahnhof Leisnig,

A lot of time has passed since our last message. As you can imagine, a lot has happened at the station. On 17.07. we celebrated the third anniversary of our existence and reflected on the past three years. We can not only look back on our progress on the construction site, but also on numerous beautiful concerts, events and celebrations.

CULTURE
This year's season opening of the Bahnhofsgarten and the Music Summer has surpassed all previous years.
We had great, new collaborations with the city, the Forte Belvedere and the whole community to co-organise the Leisnig Flower Festival. And we did well at our first wedding with 70 guests. The train station did great as an unusual wedding location.

 BUILDING
In addition to the cultural events, the renovation work on the building has progressed according to plan:

  1. The roof renovation to the right and left of the reception hall was completed. Skylights and roof windows were installed.
  2. The old floors of the concert hall, the café and many other rooms were taken out and the new floor construction started. 
  3. The faithful restoration of the front façade is almost complete. 
  4. The doors have been fully restored and only need to be installed.


GROWING POPULARITY
The popularity of the project is growing. More and more people from neighbouring cities like Leipzig and Dresden are visiting the station and the comments show how inspired and excited everyone is about this magical place. Even the estate agents have realised that the Kulturbahnhof is an asset for Leisnig as a place to live.

THE STATION AS AN EVENT LOCATION
The station is now able to offer larger rooms or even the whole station garden for events. We welcome your weddings, birthday parties, communions, corporate events, conferences, team building events and rehearsals! Our catering team, led by our chef Ebrahim, can provide catering for your event. We look forward to your enquiries.

PARTICIPATION
We often think back to the first summer when we arrived in Leisnig 3 years ago. We were overwhelmed by a wave of warmth and willingness to help from the people here. So many people came and asked us, "What do you need?" This showed us that we are in the right place at the right time and in the right community.

Even after three years, our project is still dependent on your support. Many thanks to the many kind people who actively help us again and again and support us financially. If you would also like to contribute to the project with a donation, you can do so here. Every amount helps us to keep the station flourishing. 
Anyone who wants to help with their ideas and manpower can do so too! In the next few days we will install a kind of notice board where we will announce where help is needed and you can contribute with suggestions. We are always happy to have help at our events, in the garden and with certain building work. These always involve minor physical work such as setting up/dismantling, tidying up/cleaning or manual work.
 
MARKET OF DELICACIES
On 22 & 23 July it's that time of year again: at the third Markt der kÖstlichkeiten there will once again be lots of arts and crafts, delicious food and drink, a children's programme and live music!
