The third Summer of Music is coming to an end

Dear friends of the Bahnhof,

We are slowly approaching the end of our third summer of music. There will have been more than 30 concerts and events in total - it's hard to believe how much great music and how many lovely people we had at the station this year! Here is a short review and preview and an invitation to help out.

The Day of Music
In our heads we still hear the songs from the station orchestra concert last weekend. Within 5 days we learned, arranged and rehearsed 15 pieces together to perform them all on stage on the 6th day. There were pieces from Holland, Galicia, Tunisia, Iraq, Iran and New Zealand, among others. Once again we realised how much beautiful music there is in this world!

With more than 60 participants from Leisnig and all over the world, it got cosy during the evening rehearsals in the reception hall.

What a magical evening! There was loud clapping and singing along. No matter where you looked, you saw a sea of beaming people.

International Fiddle Gateway Conference
Two weeks earlier, 20 violin specialists and influencers from the folk world met for a musical exchange. At the end of the week, there was a public jam session.

Programme until the end of September

Sa. 16.09. | ab 16:00 Uhr |  “Wanted!” Bandwettbewerb
The MISKUS band competition is back with its sixth edition - this time at our station. "Wanted" is a platform where participants face an open competition and the judgement of the audience. The musical talents will also receive feedback from an expert jury. There will be 6 local bands taking part, each playing a 45-minute concert. More info coming soon on our Facebook page.

Fr. 22.09. | 18:00 Uhr |  Ausstellung/Finissage der Künstlerin Katarzyna Bak

Italian-based Polish artist Katarzyna Bąk is currently artist in residence at the station. She explores the representation of a world in constant metamorphosis. We are excited to see the images that emerge at the station. There will be a champagne reception and live music to accompany the exhibition.

Sat. 23.09. | 17:00 hrs | Jagdhaus Unterwegs: "Reading Concert WILDNIS"

The Jagdhausverein invites you to the "Reading Concert WILDNIS" at the Kulturbahnhof Leisnig
Author Daniela Danz and guitarist Falk Zenker will be guests. Tones, noises and sounds will meet speech rhythm and the pull of words. A cultural association that is actually based in a baroque castle on the Mulde River is on the road with its programme.

Sat. 23 Sep | 7:00 pm | The River Arkansas (USA)
The River Arkansas is an Americana roots band from Colorado, USA. They formed spontaneously during a studio recording session by Mike Clark and Macon Terry in 2015, but as the members all lived in different cities, no serious gigs were planned. However, with the release of the album Golden Light, this changed abruptly and they started touring the US and haven't stopped... The band knows how to successfully intertwine the genres of blues, rock and folk. This is the band's first tour in Germany.

As always, you can find more information on our website and on Facebook.

We hope to see you at the station again soon!
Best wishes,
The Bahnhof Team

PS: On 30 September from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. our next construction helper day will take place.
