Our first Christmas market - on the construction site

Dear friends of the Kulturbahnhof Leisnig, The year 2022 is drawing to a close. On the whole, it was once again a great year, albeit a very exhausting and challenging one. We thank you for your support and for the many donations! Without you and your help, we would not be able to create any of the beautiful things we now have at the station. Here is a brief update on what has been happening at the station over the last few months.

Time for building

During the summer, most of our energy went into the beer garden, which, as you know, we ran ourselves for the first time. Because of this, the construction work was delayed by several months. Since October, however, we have finally had time for the construction site! There was sawing, hammering and drilling from morning till night. Now 6 of the 8 old passageways with their round arches in the reception hall have been broken open. The round arches above the doors to the track and the vestibule are also open. The adjoining room where tickets used to be sold has lost one wall completely, as it will soon be part of our concert hall. In our future café, the roof is completely open. We had hoped to get the new shell and insulation on before the onset of winter, but time and again there have been nasty surprises that have made our work more difficult. Typical construction site. We just have to get through it!

Advent caroling with neighbours and friends

Last week, as part of the "Living Advent Calendar in Leisnig", there was an evening of Advent music to sing along to in the middle of this scenery. A neighbour gave us a huge Christmas tree, which now stands splendidly and fully decorated in the hall, a colleague offered mulled wine to make sure everyone survived the cold. We as the station band provided the musical accompaniment. The hall was full of lovely people and everyone sang along together. It was a really beautiful evening for all of us.
