#18 The Summer of Music 2022

All you need is - Music!

„Summer time – and the living is easy.“

Yes, summer really does make life easier. Inside it is no longer icy cold but pleasantly cool and outside the huge green trees and the birdsong remind us of a tropical jungle.  But we are not only happy about the beautiful weather but also about the many building works that are now possible and about the upcoming summer of music!

The Summer of Music 2022 | May to September

With almost 20 concerts and 10 events for children and young people, this year's cultural programme is much more extensive than last year. Now there really should be something for everyone. The "flyer" has now become a real programme booklet and we are overjoyed with the playful design by illustrator Katarzyna Bak.  Two concerts are taking place this week:

Thursday Mai 26 at 14:30 | The Disharmonists

The music of the three seasoned gentlemen nestles around the ears of the listeners as crunchy and twisted as their band name. The trio literally loves and lives the self-invented genre "Rack'n'Roll" and plays cover songs as well as their own pieces.

Saturday Mai 28 at 16:30 | Munich International Choral Society (MICS)

On the way to the German Choral Festival in Leipzig, the choir of the Munich International Choral Society (MICS) stops in Leisnig. This extraordinary choir with its approximately 35 singers of various nationalities cultivates a colourful, distinctly international repertoire of different epochs and styles. The concert programmes combine masterpieces of choral literature with lesser-known but especially worth hearing compositions.

Creative exchange

At the beginning of May, the train station was the venue for the second "Kreativ Land Transfer" meeting. More than 30 cultural workers from all over Germany met for three days to exchange experiences and to deal with various aspects of their projects. With this meeting, another part of our vision came true, namely that the train station becomes a place for creativity and exchange. Thanks to the organisers of Kreativ Land Trasfer and everyone for this inspiring exchange meeting.

Breakthroughs in the reception hall

And finally, the construction work: The roof and ceiling work on and in the hall is finished for the time being. Now we turn our attention to the entrances. The three doors at the main entrance, the vestibule door and the large door to the platform have been removed for restoration. We have already dared the first breakthroughs: the round arches, which had been bricked up since 1957, are open again. When we broke through, there was another little surprise: concrete slabs were not used as supports, which would have been usual. Instead, they simply walled in train rails to carry the load of the bricks.  Of course, we think that's great and will keep the rails and integrate them into the new door construction.

Take care and see you soon at the Bahnhof!

Warm wishes,

The Bahnhof Team

P.S.

The Bahnhofsgarten has new opening hours. These are:

Wednesday to Friday - 4pm to 9pm

Saturday, Sunday and public holidays - 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Monday and Tuesday - closed

During the week, we will focus on the evenings because otherwise we would not be able to do all the work that needs to be done. If we are open again during the week, we will of course let you know.
