Dear friends of Bahnhof Leisnig,
We have started a new crowdfunding campaign !! During our last campaign in 2021, thanks to your amazing support, we were able to raise 80,000 euros to renovate the roof and ceiling of the reception hall, refurbish the doors at the entrance and to the track and purchase and install a few more doors.
This time we are focusing on the east wing. This is where we want to have:
- a café and co-working space (former baggage hall)
- a workshop & conference room (former train signal room)
- two music & rehearsal rooms
- two offices for our association
In July, we will be celebrating our 5th anniversary and all that we have achieved during this time. On a structural level, several areas of the old listed station have already been partially renovated and are ready for use. On a cultural level, we have managed to establish the station as a cultural hotspot in Central Saxony and attract people from all over the world year after year. For many, the station has become their "favorite place in the whole world!". This is thanks to you for believing in us, visiting us, joining us on the construction site or at the concert, and donating time and time again!
Despite everything, we are currently only fully operational in the warmer months. From October onwards, the building is cold and everything comes to a standstill. This leads to high financial pressure, as we have to bridge the period from October to April, without regular events and without being able to reliably use the rooms.
We have to complete the renovation work in the east wing of the building by the end of Augustso that we can continue to use the station when the next winter comes. With the money raised through the crowdfunding campaign, we plan to:
- install heating and electricity in the signal room, the baggage hall, the offices and music rooms
- install further sanitary facilities
- build up new office floors
The crowdfunding campaign will run 6 for 6 weeks - until April 6th. We have to reach the threshold of 75,000 euros by then, otherwise we won't get anything. Everything that is donated over and above this will be ours to keep and use. Whether we reach the ultimate goal of 150,000 euros is written in the stars, but we're dreaming big and will just go for it!
