The Beer Garden - onwards!
Dear friends of Bahnhof Leisnig,
With all the construction work and preparations, we almost don't have time to write our newsletter anymore. But now it really is high time! Here is a short update:
The opening of the beer garden
On 30 April at 11:00 a.m., the Bahnhofsgarten will be open again! And of course you are all invited. Klaus Berthold will be there with his wood workshop for children (also on 1 May) and the Road Brothers from Clennen with "80s hits in Blue Grass guise".
As already mentioned in the last newsletter, Andreas Schützeneder cannot continue to run the beer garden for reasons of health and our search for new proprietors and cooks has so far been without success. Nevertheless, it is important to us that the beer garden, with its offering of delicious food and drinks, goes on. So we have decided to run the Bahnhofsgarten ourselves. The learning curve is steep, but where there's a will, there's a way! 2022 will be a year of surprises for all of us. : ) Here is a taste of our summer programme. Sommerprogramm.

The Hall
Those who now enter the reception hall first stop for a few minutes and look upwards in amazement. The roof and ceiling work was completed today and both are impressive: daylight streams into the old space through the eight skylights. We knew it would be beautiful, but it has exceeded all our expectations. The doors and windows are next. Our plan is to open the hall to everyone on 10 September, on our Day of Music. You can also add this day to your calendar.
Simul+
On 7 April, we received the Simul+ Participation Fund Award from Thomas Schmidt, Minister of State for Regional Development, in Chemnitz.
In cooperation with the city of Leisnig, the prize money of 125,000 euros will be used to implement the following measures, among others:
- Operation and management of the hall as a public space
- Renovation of the public toilets
- Management and maintenance of the toilets
- Construction of a public playground in the station garden
We would like to thank the city of Leisnig for the good cooperation and the State Ministry for supporting our project.
We also thank you for your support so far and look forward to the next reunion in the Bahnhofsgarten.
Best wishes,
The Bahnhof Team
